Hi! My name is Josie and I’m a rising Junior in Kirkland House. I’m excited to share my thoughts and experiences with prospective Social Studies students, especially anyone who may feel unfamiliar with the concentration. Even though I felt intimidated by the concentration and the rigor of the year-long sophomore tutorial, choosing Social Studies was one of the most intellectually and academically rewarding decisions I’ve made.

I’m pursuing a joint concentration with the Studies of Women, Gender, and Sexuality and a language citation in Chinese. My original focus field was on Sex Work in the Global South but I’m now planning on shifting the focus to the U.S and the ways in which domestic conceptions of labor and criminality inform sex work practices and laws. Please feel free to reach out to me with any concentration questions!
