I came to Harvard intending to concentrate in Government, maybe with a secondary or joint in Economics or a related field. Freshman year, I realized something that is probably true for most Gov-interested students: My interests are not confined to a single academic field. I looked into Social Studies and found what I didn't see in any other concentration: a rigorous yet flexible way to explore my specific interests across any departments in the social sciences. The solid grounding in social theory from Social Studies 10 has shaped my thinking on many contemporary, fundamental issues, and I am excited to form a focus field that enables me to explore my myriad interests in the way I find most interesting. Please reach out with any questions at all, and I'm happy to talk about whether Social Studies is right for you.
