Hi! I'm Laura and I’m a senior in Eliot House. When I came to Harvard, I planned to concentrate in History or Government, and I was interested in politics, law, public service, and writing. I decided to take Social Studies 10 because my sister was a concentrator (and she raved about Social Studies) and I am so glad I did! I realized that the interdisciplinary concentration combined many of my interests and introduced me to many new interests, including philosophy and religion. But I was attracted to Social Studies not only due to its multidisciplinary structure, but also because I really felt the sense of community and support within the concentration. I’m excited to welcome new concentrators, answer any questions, explain how I chose Social Studies, and share why I’m so glad I did. I hope I can help you navigate this challenging, inspiring, and rewarding concentration!
